ADOPTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF GREEN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT CONCEPT AND PRACTICES

A CASE STUDY ON BOTTLED WATER INDUSTRY IN INDONESIA

Abstract

Several companies increase their competitiveness to fulfill environment regulation, also to satisfy consumer attention on environment and for mitigate environmental impact from their production and services. Researchers or practitioners have done deeper research about environment awareness in business practices. Green supply chain management (GrSCM) as a form for environmental reparation is an operational initiative, which use by many companies to fulfill environmental issue above. GrSCM has been something interesting between researcher and practitioners in operation management and supply chain field, this caused by the increasing of environmental damage like decreasing of natural resources, increasing pollution level, and others. By way of studying concept and practices of green supply chain management on other countries, then this research has two research questions, which are: (1) how the status of adoption and implementation concept and practices of green supply chain management on bottled water companies in Indonesia? And (2) what are efforts that need stakeholders do to increasing the successful of achieving goal of green supply chain management on bottled water industry in Indonesia? This research used modified case study methodology that consists of these steps: literature review, theory development, conceptual model, design data protocol, select cases, conduct case studies or data collection and analysis, write individual case report, analysis and draw conclusion within cases, modified theory or conceptual model, develop policy implications, and write cross-case report. The objective of this research is to explore adoption level and implementation concept and practices of green supply chain management in Indonesia and build a conceptual framework as one alternative for increasing participation of stakeholders in Indonesia.
